The Pottery & Ceramic Glazing Course for Beginners (Adults) is specially designed for beginners who want to dive right into the world of clay and glazing.

Part of this course will focus on pottery techniques in a fun and creative way, boosting the students' creativity and imagination. The students will learn how to work with some new materials, textures, and themes. Apart from learning various pottery techniques, students will also learn more about glazing their pottery.

Lesson 1: Introduction to Pottery & the Pinch Pot Method

Lesson 2: The Coiling Method, Creating Slip and Creating a Mug (Project 1)

Lesson 3: Mug (Project 1) Finalising

Lesson 4: Introduction to Glazing

Lesson 5: How to Make a Candle Holder (Project 2)

Lesson 6: How to Make a Vessel with a Lid (Project 3)

Lesson 7: Finalising Project 2 and 3

Lesson 8: Glazing Continuation

Lesson 9: Slab Building Method and How to Decorate Pottery (Project 4)

Lesson 10: Glazing Continuation 

Students will take be encouraged to take inspiration from the world around them, use sketchbooks to help them gather ideas then design and produce new and innovative outcomes that they can treasure.  

Course Details

  • Mode of Study: Once weekly (2 hours per lesson)
  • Duration: 10 Lessons
  • Location: Art Academy Mosta (131, Constitution Street, Mosta)
  • Requirements: Students will need to bring their own pottery supplies. Kiln firing are not included in the price and need to be purchased seperately. Refer to below for the kiln firing costs. 
  • What’s Included: Rolling pins, wood panel, hands-on teaching, individual attention
  • Certification: Upon attendance of 80% of the Course, students will be given a Certificate of Attendance

Kiln Firing Costs (Not included in course fee):

  • Bisque Firing: €0.70 per 100g
  • Glaze Firing: €1.40 per 100g

Example:
An average mug weighs 300g.

  • Bisque Firing (300g): €2.10
  • Glaze Firing (300g): €4.20

Total Firing Cost for 1 Mug: €6.30
