Welcome to the captivating world of wood carving! Discover the addictive and therapeutic art of whittling, a craft that is not only relaxing but also offers a sense of personal achievement. The beauty of whittling lies in its simplicity, requiring only a lump of wood, a craft knife, and your lap – a minimal and low-tech kit list that makes it easily accessible and transportable.
On the first day, you will be introduced to the art of whittling and wood carving, including more information on the types of tools, wood, and safety precautions.
Following this you will start with a basic lump of wood and embark on a journey of traditional hand-carving techniques and whittling skills. Guided by the experienced instructor, you'll use craft knives to bring your bird to life over two days.
This workshop is designed for participants who are complete beginners or students who have tried whittling in the past and would like to get back to the basics. The comprehensive 2-day format allows for a deeper understanding of the entire whittling process, offering a chance to work with greater detail.

- Requirements: 16+ welcome, anti-cut gloves and/or anti-cut tape (students without hand protection will not be allowed to work with the knives for safety reasons)

What’s Included: Basswood blocks, carving knives, leather strop, polishing compound, beeswax, and sandpaper will be provided by Art Academy for use during the workshop.
