For many years the Volkswagen Beetle was the car in which it all began. Countless young people learned to drive with him, countless people drove him as the first car in their lives. Over the years, improvements have been made to the vehicle to keep the Beetle competitive. Even in 1968 the Beetle had a standard that still kept it competitive against the competition at the time. The former 1131 cc engine had meanwhile become an engine with 1500 cc displacement and 44 hp. Disc brakes at the front and a new semi-trailing arm rear axle kept this temper in check. The headlights were now vertical and you could fill up the tank through a flap on the side.
