Gilder’s tip made of blue squirrel hair with a cardboard holder, to pick up gold and other precious metal leaves.
Used to lift the leaf from the book once cut and transferring it from the cushion to the surface being gilded.
Additional information
For better use of the tool you are advised to rub the gilder’s tip on the skin before moving the leaf: the heat, slight oiliness of the skin and the electrostatic effect of the rubbing, makes it easier to remove the leaf.
