This oil-based gold size, can be diluted with turpentine and should be spread on the surface the night before. In the morning (or 12 hours later), the surface is ready to receive the gold leaf. If the mission layer is very thin, you can proceed with burnishing once dry. This technique allows large areas to gild well, because the setting time of the mission is about 3 hours.
Once complete make sure to wash the brush with turpentine or white spirit.
